Amdax launches Novelist for simplified crypto asset management

Dutch crypto asset manager Amdax has launched ‘Novelist’ a crypto service provider to make managed crypto investing accessible to the general public.

The service focuses on managed crypto investing starting from €500. , co-founder of Novelist, it targets people who lack the time, knowledge, or interest to manage a crypto portfolio themselves.

“For many people, keeping up with the market on their own requires too much time and expertise. We take that work off their hands with an investment team closely monitoring the market. As part of Amdax, we uphold the same high-quality standards, enabling the new generation investors to easily and confidently invest in the digital economy.”.

Den Boer asserts that crypto is the best way to invest in the growing digital economy, has the potential to transform the investment landscape fundamentally, and represents one of the greatest opportunities for the new generation of investors since the advent of the internet.

“It is the fastest-growing asset class in history. For the new generation of investors, faced with high housing prices, rising costs, and low interest rates, crypto offers a unique opportunity to regain control over their financial future. Our goal is to establish crypto as a staple in every investment portfolio, starting with our home market and expanding to Europe in the near future."

As the crypto sector matures and is increasingly recognised as an established asset class, retail investors are, , ready for Novelist.

World’s first cell-cultivated meat dog treat goes on sale in store in the UK

UK cell-cultivated meat business Meatly today became the first business in the world to supply cell-cultivated meat for pet food on sale.

Produced in collaboration with plant-based dog food brand THE PACK, a limited-release of "Chick Bites" is on sale at Pets at Home Brentford, London, from Friday, 7th February. Chick Bites are the first pet food product to be brought to market for general consumption in the UK made using cell-cultivated meat.

I spoke to Owen Ensor, founder and CEO of Meatly to find out about it.

Chick Bites combine plant-based ingredients with Meatly Chicken to provide a nutritious, healthy and sustainable alternative to traditional dog treats.

Pets can enjoy the same great-tasting meat they crave, but in a way which is kinder for animals and advanced for the planet. Meatly plans to raise additional funds to expand production and make.

, Meatly is responding to a market need:

"We always planned to do pet food first. 20 per cent of meat globally is eaten by our pets A lot of pet food manufacturers have tried plant-based and insect-based and haven't seen huge adoptions. There's a lot of excitement around cultivated meat, but also. And so there's a huge impact, impetus as well."

To produce Meatly Chicken, a single sample of cells was taken from one chicken egg, from which enough cultivated meat can be produced to feed pets forever. Meatly Chicken is just as tasty and nutritious as traditional chicken breast, containing all the essential amino acids, critical fatty acids, minerals and vitamins needed for pet health.

"The product is healthier and free from steroids, hormones, and antibiotics. But it's also tasty. Feeding trials on dogs so far showed many of them preferred it to their baseline diets. "There's no adverse effects. I've even fed it to my cats, so we're excited to do more extensive feeding trials on cats."

Fellow cat owners will know how fussy cats are, so this is a definite stamp of approval.

Further, the firm's cell-cultivated meat integrates directly into existing pet food manufacturing supply chains "so the result is a product that acts and looks exactly like the pet food or treats you've already been feeding your pet."

Pets at Home is one of the largest investors in Meatly –- is the first retailer to sell pet food made from cultivated meat globally, and is the UK's largest pet retailer with over 450 stores nationwide.

Its partnership with Meatly aligns with its ambition to make pet food more sustainable by making and selling products using less carbon, land, and water.

"Today we take off. It's a giant leap forward — toward a significant market for meat that is healthy, sustainable, and kind to our planet and other animals. We're proud to work alongside fellow pioneers Pets at Home and THE PACK for this momentous endeavour."

It's also a day to celebrate Meatly's team. Despite only raising 1 per cent of total European cultivated meat investment, it is the first organization to sell cultivated meat in both the UK and EU — and all with a team of just 10 people over two and half years, an achievement that's truly staggering in this industry.

"We're only the fourth enterprise ever to sell a product in this space, while most others have raised tens, if not hundreds, of millions and operate with teams of 70 to 170 people. To have done this with such a lean team in such a short time is spectacular. It really speaks to our streamlined strategy, as well as the focus and commitment of our team."

The launch follows Meatly becoming the UK's first regulatory-approved cell-cultivated meat supplier in July 2024.

OpenAI expands in Asia with Kakao and Softbank partnerships

OpenAI and South Korean tech firm Kakao, developers of the popular KakaoTalk messaging app, have entered into a strategic partnership that will see ChatGPT functionality integrated into KakaoTalk while providing OpenAI with valuable training and user behavior data. This news comes just a day after Japan’s SoftBank pledged $3 billion to deploy OpenAI technologies across its various business ventures.

The Kakao agreement will cover three initial projects between the two companies. First, they plan to develop a Korean-language assistant similar to Siri or Google’s Assistant but built atop OpenAI’s tech. Second, Kakao employees will gain access to ChatGPT Enterprise in their workflows and third, the aforementioned KakaoTalk integration.

The SoftBank deal is similarly structured. SoftBank and OpenAI have agreed to collaborate on the development of an enterprise AI they’re calling “Cristal intelligence,” which “will securely integrate the systems and data of individual enterprises in a way that is customized specifically for each firm,” . SoftBank has also pledged $3 billion annually to roll out ChatGPT Enterprise across its various subsidiary businesses and integrate Cristal intelligence at scale.

“Korea is a very impressive market,” Altman noted at the announcement press conference, co-led by Kakao CEO Shina Chung. “The adoption of AI in Korea is remarkably advanced. Considering various industries, from energy to semiconductors and internet companies, there is a very strong environment conducive to applying AI. It is a market that is extremely key to us and is growing rapidly.” Even more valuable to OpenAI than these various financial investments, is its newfound access to Korean-and Japanese-language data on which to train its large language models.

This isn’t the first time that OpenAI and SoftBank have joined forces. In January, the two companies (as part of a larger consortium) unveiled the ambitious Stargate Project, which seeks to invest as much as $500 billion over the next four years in building out AI data centers and power generation plants to support OpenAI’s never-ending growth strategy. Of course, that deal could be in peril given the meteoric rise of China’s DeepSeek AI app, which offers parity performance to OpenAI’s GPT-4o and o1 models at a small fraction of their required price and electrical power.
