Bloodborne PSX demake now completely removed, but Nightmare Kart continues with DLC

Nightmare Kart is set to receive an expansion, despite a DMCA takedown from Sony against the developer's Bloodborne PSX demake.

Originally known as Bloodborne Kart, the racer is a spin-off from the Bloodborne PSX demake from fan developer Lilith Walther. The name was changed to Nightmare Kart once Sony got involved and requested Walther "scrub the branding" from the game.

Earlier this week, a legal takedown was issued by MarkScan Enforcement against a YouTube video of Walther's Bloodborne PSX demake. Now the full game itself has been removed from [website] with a notice from the same organization.

MarkScan represents Sony Interactive Entertainment, with the notice claiming copyright infringement.

"No person is entitled to upload, stream (live, delayed, repeat etc.), make available for download, broadcast and/or communicate to the public, the copyright content listed above, in any manner whatsoever, through any transmission platform, including the internet, for viewing on devices such as computers, laptops, mobile phones, tablet computers, etc. without express authorization from our client," the notice reads.

As reported earlier this week, another fan project from modder Lance McDonald has also been hit by a claim, which enabled Bloodborne to run at 60fps.

McDonald shared a social media post from Walther confirming both projects had been hit by DMCA takedown requests. Walther's post has since been removed.

Eurogamer has asked Sony for comment, but has not yet received a response.

It seems, therefore, that Sony is gradually targeting all Bloodborne fan projects. But why? Hope has, of course, turned to a possible official remake, though Sony or FromSoftware are yet to announce anything.

In the meantime, Nightmare Kart is still available for free. It released in June last year, and its suitably named DLC The Old Karts will add in a new mini campaign, as well as new racers, karts, tracks, and power ups.

Bloodborne DLC The Old Hunters introduced Lady Maria, who's already paralleled in Nightmare Kart as Mistress Mary. Perhaps we'll get an Orphan of Kos equivalent?

Former PlayStation exec Shuhei Yoshida reckons Bloodborne creator Hidetaka Miyazaki is "so busy" a remake hasn't been possible.

"Miyazaki-san really, really loved Bloodborne, what he created. So I think he is interested but he's so successful and he's so busy, so he cannot do it himself, and he doesn't want anyone else to touch it," introduced Yoshida.

Last year, Miyazaki told Eurogamer he's "very happy" to see so many passionate fans calling for a Bloodborne remake.

"Put simply, it makes me very happy to see it's a title with a lot of specific memories, both for me and the staff who worked on it," he noted. "And when we see those passionate voices in the community, of course it makes us feel thrilled, it makes us feel very fortunate to have that and to have those memories."

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater release date leaks

The release date for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater has leaked early, along with a new trailer.

As updated on the PSN Store (and shared to ResetEra), the game will release on 28th August this year.

The release date is also in the new trailer, which exhibits a fresh look at familiar scenes from the classic stealth action game. The trailer ends with a monkey from Ape Escape slapping its bum, a nod to the Snake vs Monkey minigame in the original release that's presumably been recreated here too. (Below is the previously released trailer).

Eurogamer has checked the PSN Store both on the web and console, where the release date is clearly visible.

The game is also listed as being PS5 Pro Enhanced, though no further details are known.

Could this release date have accidentally been uploaded early ahead of a State of Play later this month?

Last year, a PlayStation blog in January suggested the game would release in 2024, but the year passed without a firm release date. It's widely expected to be released this year instead, but there's been no official word from Sony or Konami.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is a remake of the third Metal Gear Solid game, which is chronologically the first. The remake has been done with future generations in mind, series producer Noriaki Okamura revealed in an interview last year.

"It was basically our mission, our duty, to kind of continue making sure that the series lives on for future generations," Okamura mentioned. "After all, we leave behind much more than just DNA, as Solid Snake would say - but again, who is Solid Snake?"

Nintendo announces timing of its dedicated Switch 2 Direct

We knew it was coming, but Nintendo has now confirmed an exact time for its dedicated Switch 2 Direct.

The business will host a Nintendo Direct focused on its upcoming Switch successor on 2nd April, at 2pm UK time.

For those of you sitting across the pond, that's 6am PST.

But while Nintendo has now shared an actual time for its Direct with us all, it is still keeping further specifics under wraps for now. The upcoming showcase will simply offer "a closer look at Nintendo Switch 2", is all the firm has stated for the time being.

Even so, from the earlier Switch 2 reveal, we can presume we will hear more about the Joy-Con's apparent mouse functionality, and maybe even discover what exactly that mysterious button on the right-hand Joy-Con does.

We should also hear more about what games will be heading to Switch 2. Last month's announcement teaser did give us a glimpse of a new Mario Kart title, complete with a fresh looking Donkey Kong. Maybe we will find out if a theory currently making the rounds, which implies the addition of fuel tanks in Mario Kart may shake up gameplay, will prove accurate.

Meanwhile, it has been a hot minute since we last heard anything on the long-in-development Metroid Prime 4 or Pokémon Legends: Z-A, but perhaps this will change on 2nd April.

Nintendo will hopefully give us a release date too. For now, the console still just has a vague 2025 window tied to it. What do you think (or hope) we will see?

Join us on April 2nd at 14:00 (UK time) for #NintendoDirect: Nintendo Switch 2 – [website], where we will share a closer look at #NintendoSwitch2.

Elsewhere in Nintendo-related news, EA has become one of the first publishers to discuss - in broad terms - its plans for Switch 2. In fact, the corporation has implied it has its eye on Nintendo's console for several of its key franchises, including EA Sports FC and Madden.
