Demeo X Dungeons & Dragons: Battlemarked is a VR tabletop tactics game from Wizards Of The Coast

You'll have to bear with me for this one, because the press release we received for Demeo X Dungeons & Dragons: Battlemarked contains about an 86/14 split between scrambled hypeguff and actual tangible information. In brief, it's a VR collaboration between D&D traffickers Wizards Of The Coast and Demeo studio Resolution Games that aims to simulate a tactical co-op tabletop experience without any of the boring bits, like seeing your mates' genuine reactions to things or having your frigid digitised soul warmed at the hearth of human kinship. Here is - in a sense of the word so loose I fear imminent smiting by a bellicose scribe god for typing it - a trailer:
It's aiming for a focus "on social strategy rather than social roleplay, encouraging group tabletalk focused on tactics and decision-making". To this end, it supports up to four player co-op cross-platform, with two story campaigns and more planning as DLC in the future.
Alice Bell (RPS in new podcast) enjoyed Demeo's TTRPG hangout space when she played it a few years back with Edders (RPS in peace also, let me know if you start a podcast), although noted it might struggle to find an audience. It does seem to have kept a humble following on Steam, where it sits at a 'very positive' rating.
"BATTLEMARKED continues Hasbro’s strategy to leverage our extensive catalog of world class IP to create digital games through licensing and internal studio development," reads the presser. Last year, we learned of Hasbro's wry "more Baldur's Gates, more money" strategy, a scheme so devilish and brilliant that only the finest business minds in the land could have concocted it. They've invested a cool billion dollars across four studios in the hope to replicate Larian's success.

Dungeons of Hinterberg PlayStation release date confirmed, features new "bonus episode"

Excellent indie adventure Dungeons of Hinterberg will belatedly launch on PlayStation next month.
A PS5 version will become available on 13th March, after previously arriving for PC and Xbox Series X/S last summer.
This new version will also include a "new, secret bonus episode", publisher Curve Games expressed today - though details of what exactly this will be remain under-wraps. Presumably, the PC and Xbox versions will get this addition via a free modification too.
If you're yet to try Dungeons of Hinterberg, it's an enjoyable Zelda-inspired adventure that splits its time between exploration and combat in various Alpine biomes, breezy dungeons filled with monsters and puzzle-solving, and then a social side set within a nearby town full of residents to befriend and side-quests to take on.
"Combat and RPG progression get an ingenious social twist in this disarming slice of fantasy," our Chris Donlan wrote in Eurogamer's Dungeons of Hinterberg review, reserving particular praise for the game's overall narrative.
"The protagonist's story hinges on burnout, but also the question of how one should spend their time and what they should value," Donlan wrote. "The story that unravels in the village, meanwhile, slowly starts to blur the distinctions the game has been careful to build up, touching on everything from the cost of tourism to the question of authenticity. It's gripping stuff."
"If you play games for escapism, there are few this year that did it superior," Chris Tapsell added, recommending Dungeons of Hinterberg in Eurogamer's best games of 2024. "It's a dreamy, warm-hearted, timely and deeply welcome retreat."

Dino Crisis and Dino Crisis 2 get re-released on PC via GOG, but that probably won't sate fans dying for a remake

Are those ripples in your morning cappuccino? Must be the stomping feet of an ancient lizard messing up that nice whippy heart your barista made in the froth. And when I say "ancient" I mean from 1999. Dino Crisis and Dino Crisis 2 have appeared on GOG, making the classic survival horror games easily (and legally) playable on the PC once again.
There's currently a bundle with both games, or you can get the timid puzzles and exploration of the first game separately from the more action-heavy shotgun blasting of the sequel. Both are good times if you're a fan of digital fossils. Although if you're a console dabbler you may have already spotted these on the PlayStation store in October last year.
Both games have passed through GOG's "game preservation" process, which is basically a set of performance tests and checks that GOG like to do to make sure the games are DRM-free, compatible with modern machinery, and straightforward to launch for modern players. They get a shiny sticker when they pass. The original Resident Evil trilogy appeared on GOG one by one (by one) via the same process.
One side effect of remastering Dino Crisis 2 seems to be that the characters are very crisp, making its pre-rendered backgrounds look blurry by comparison. It's as if Regina here is in a zoom call with the background slightly blurred.
But look, here's some of the things each game has to make sure they'll work well on your PC.
Full compatibility with Windows 10 and Windows 11.
New rendering options (Windowed Mode, Vertical Synchronization Control, Gamma Correction, Integer Scaling, Anti-Aliasing, and more).
Full support for modern controllers (Sony DualSense, Sony DualShock 4, Microsoft Xbox Series, Microsoft Xbox One, Microsoft Xbox 360, Nintendo Switch, Logitech F series, etc.) with optimal button mapping for both wired and wireless modes, including hot plugging.
Dino Crisis is the well-liked cousin of the Resident Evil games, but has long been neglected by Capcom in comparison to the zombie-blasting series. Capcom released a poll that showed the series has a lot of nostalgic fans. But there has been no real sign of any remake happening in the style of the Resi games. Even Shinji Mikami has expressed that there's "no room" for the series to get a reboot when Monster Hunter exists.
Meanwhile, GOG took this moment to remind people about their "Dreamlist", a list of user-voted games people would like to see appear on the store (they're touting this as a new feature but it is essentially a nice-looking revamp of their previous "wishlist" which saw customers do the same thing). Currently, another Capcom game of yore is high on the list - Resident Evil: Code Veronica X.
