The Blood of Dawnwalker devs' main goal is

The devs behind The Blood of Dawnwalker are planning to make full use of their experience from working on The Witcher 3 for their debut title.

While we didn't get a look at it in action, Rebel Wolves, the team of developers led by ex-Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 staffers, formally revealed The Blood of Dawnwalker with a pretty slick cinematic reveal trailer. Obviously cinematic trailers exist for two reasons, one being an initial attempt to drum up some hype, the other to say "hey we're hiring and don't have to make you sign an NDA on what you'll be working on anymore", but either way it was a pretty good first impression. The core premise sounds interesting too, in that it'll include a 30-day "narrative sandbox", meaning when you finish a quest, time will pass in-game, so you'll have to be selective with what you choose.

Now, speaking in an interview in the latest issue of PC Gamer Magazine (thanks, GamesRadar), Witcher 3's lead quest designer Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz and creative director on The Blood of Dawnwalker spoke about the game's sandbox philosophy. "It's how we allow you, the player, to interact with it," Tomaszkiewicz explained. "So the core of it is maximizing players' agency and freedom of choice, while, at the same time delivering the high-quality narratives that we are known for crafting in the past."

Daniel Sadowski, design director on the project, also touched on that 30-day narrative sandbox, explaining that Rebel Wolves doesn't want players to feel like their "dynamic" world is "waiting for the player all the time, so both action and inaction in Dawnwalker have serious consequences." The core concept reminds me a lot of Unsighted, a great little indie game that runs on an in-game timer where you can make permanent mistakes, so I'm definitely interested in whatever Rebel Wolves is cooking up.

It's also worth noting that Tomaszkiewicz made it clear your choices in side quests will be crucial too, and that "seemingly inconsequential, smaller activities in the world" may also have a big impact on the main story.

The Blood of Dawnwalker is currently planned to release on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, but you'll have to wait a while for it, as it doesn't currently have a release date.

The first teaser for Mortal Kombat 1's T-1000 will probably you make you even more afraid of getting hit by a long-haul truck than you already were

NetherRealm has shown off Mortal Kombat 1's upcoming T-1000 guest character for the first time, and, you guessed it, he's pretty violent!

While some of you younger Mortal Kombat players might not be all that familiar with the Terminator series, despite its constant reboots, sequels, spin-off presents and the like, those of you who have seen the original Terminator 2 will be all-too familiar with the T-1000 thanks to a genuinely intimidating performance from Robert Patrick. A little while back NetherRealm presented that the T-1000 would be joining Mortal Kombat 1 as a guest character, and over the weekend the developer finally showed off the character in action. So far, looking pretty good, and you'll also see and hear that Patrick is reprising his role as the iconic character too.

NetherRealm has clearly leaned into the whole malleable metal body that can change into anything shtick, as the trailer showed off a few of the different ways the robot from the future can morph its body. I'm not huge on Mortal Kombat myself, I think the over-the-top violence is a little old hat these days, but I have to admit the T-1000 looks pretty fun to play as. What doesn't look fun is its Fatality, which sees it driving a beaten up long-haul truck (like in the original movie) smashing into whoever it's facing off against, in this case fan favourite Johnny Cage. It follows that up with a whole bunch of bullets being loaded into Johnny's body, so all-in you'll just have plenty of reasons to look both ways when crossing the road.

On top of that, a new Kameo character makes an appearance too, Madam Bo, who was introduced in the base-game as part of its story. It's a fun way to get her involved, and if you own the Khaos Reigns DLC you'll get her for free on March 18, or you can get her standalone - T-1000 will be available from March 18 too for Khaos Reigns owners, or you can pick the character up solo from March 25.

You can't play Avowed on PS5 right now, but modders have already gotten to work on helping you pretend you are

Avowed doesn't have a planned PlayStation release currently, though if you're playing on PC, some mods will let you imagine you are.

You kind of have to assume that Avowed will come to PlayStation at some point, right? After all, why would Xbox head Phil Spencer go on and on about the games it publishes coming to other platforms. Hell, even Halo is rumoured to be coming to the Nintendo Switch 2, so I can't really picture a world where Avowed doesn't come to PS5, even if it's a year from now. But, at this exact moment in time, it's only available on Xbox Series X/S and PC, neither bad places to play, though personally I do like it when games use PlayStation UI over Xbox, they just feel more like home to me.

Luckily, if anyone has my back in times like these, I know it's modders, because there's already a mod that lets you change all of the game's controller UI to PlayStation buttons. Need to interact with something? The square button's got you! Unsure of what you need to press to jump? You know the cross button will always be there to see you straight (unless you're playing Kingdom hearts, for some reason). It's a simple little mod from modder NeuroticNinjah, but it does the job, particularly for those who feel a bit impatient, or prefer to play with a PlayStation controller on PC but don't like it when the button symbols match up.

That's not the only mod you can download to really make yourself believe you're playing Avowed on PlayStation though, as modder Chachinito also created one that replaces the Avowed splash screen with the PlayStation Studios one. This really won't affect your gameplay all that much, it's more for PlayStation players who also play on PC that feel weirdly bitter about it technically being an Xbox exclusive, but hey, sometimes a little bit of spite makes for some good comedy.

We also have to see if Avowed will make it to PlayStation before that DLC/ sequel the game's director appears to be thinking about (though I imagine it will do, given how long these things take nowadays).
