Five new Steam games you probably missed (February 10, 2025)

On an average day about a dozen new games are released on Steam. And while we think that's a good thing, it can be understandably hard to keep up with. Potentially exciting gems are sure to be lost in the deluge of new things to play unless you sort through every single game that is released on Steam. So that’s exactly what we’ve done. If nothing catches your fancy this week, we've gathered the best PC games you can play right now and a running list of the 2025 games that are launching this year.
Studio System : Guardian Angel (Steam Atmosphere Trailer) - YouTube Watch On.
Studio System: Guardian Angel is a surreal horror game that seems to borrow some stylistic quirks from Atlus. It's set in a school, for one, though more specifically, it's set in a secret film studio that just happens to be directly beneath the protagonist's school. Just as soon as this weird truth is brought to light, all students disappear and the protagonist finds themselves in this bizarre subterranea where disturbing creatures lurk. Interestingly, Studio System uses its fixed camera perspective as a tool for both combat and problem solving. Come for the dread-inducing atmosphere, stay for some interesting mechanical twists on the genre.
Slender Threads: Trailer 2024 - YouTube Watch On.
While Waiting is a game about waiting that rewards doing nothing at all. It's a series of set pieces tracing typical "waiting" situations like waiting for the toilet, waiting for a meeting to end, or waiting in a joyride queue. It's possible to interact with all environments in granular ways, but nothing you do will rush along the thing you're waiting for. A pointless game, then? No: it's got a very obvious comedic tone, and the whole thing is wrapped up in "a thought-provoking narrative". It's probably the only game on Steam with "Easter Eggs Hidden in Boringness" listed proudly as a feature.

World End Diner is a post-apocalyptic management game about running a diner at the end of the world. Don't be fooled by the premise though, because this is as cosy as they come, with lush 16-bit style graphics that inevitably put me in mind of Stardew Valley. Once you've gathered ingredients, whether by farming or just foraging in the woods, it's time to cook meals for the various cute animals and robots that make up your customer base. New recipes unlock as the game progresses, and there seems to be an abundance of progression paths towards making your diner the best in the world, assuming there are any other diners in the world.
LOONEY LANDERS | arcade party game | launch trailer | ルーニー・ランダース - YouTube Watch On.
I was drawn to the graphics of Looney Landers: it kinda looks like something Amstrad Action would have raved about in the early 1980s. It's a local multiplayer party game about falling through a series of zany colourful obstacles without dying. The objective is to land safely, but to be competitive you'll need to land safely while taking some stupid risks. It's part of the studio's Class of 1983 arcade series, which also includes Donut Dodo and Cash Cow DX.

Great Scott! Back to the Future Co-Creator Says a Brand New Game Is on the Way

Bob Gale, co-creator of the beloved Back to the Future franchise, has mentioned that a new video game is in the works.
Speaking in an interview on [website] (paywall), the writer/producer talks about Back to the Future projects in the pipeline, including a game.
"We’ve got a shot at a new video game based on Back to the Future," he says, but unfortunately can't elaborate. "I don’t want to tell you any more than that because I’m not allowed to, but this is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time. Knock on wood that it will happen."
He also notes that 2025 is the 40th anniversary of the original movie, teasing "some events" and other projects as part of a celebration.
The last video game conversion for the franchise was Back to the Future: The Game, an episodic narrative adventure from Telltale Games, released on PS3 and PS4.
It's obviously unclear what the mystery game will be like, but hopefully it won't be too long before it comes to light. Perhaps it'll be unveiled as part of the 40th anniversary festivities.

Improving Civilization 7's UI is the "top priority", say Firaxis

The RPS review of Firaxis' grand strategy Civilisation 7 is currently in progress. We didn't get early code, and our usual method of sidestepping this issue by rapidly entering the numbers and letters spelled out by our extensive collection of longhorn beetles bore no fruit. Rest assured: it's coming. Sin reviewed it for EuroVega though, awarding it two out of a possible five beetles. While she found it largely dull, she did mention that "its UI has enough potential to make some of my complaints feel patchable". Firaxis seem to agree, putting out a statement last Friday following feedback from the game's advanced access period.
"In response to your feedback, we’ve identified three key areas that we’re prioritizing work against as quickly as possible," say Firaxis. They're planning to share a roadmap "soon", but this is what they're working on for now. Chief among the three areas is a focus on improving the UI - their "top priority", they say. They're working on "making UI interactions more intuitive, improving map readability, fixing areas of polish like formatting, and more". Do love a good "more". Could be anything! Exciting!
As for multiplayer, they're working on the following:
Adding Teams to multiplayer games so you can play cooperatively.
Allowing full player counts in multiplayer in all three Ages through refinements to our Distant Lands system.
Allowing you to pick your starting and ending Age to allow for single or double Age games.
Enabling city and religion names to be customized.
Finally, they're aiming to roll out a quality o' life patch in March, featuring "quality-of-life UI adjustments, ongoing AI balance and improvement, adjustments to diplomacy and crises, plus additional bug fixes".
In other Civ news, Firaxis unveiled Civ 7 VR yesterday, . I will never stand to play a strategy game and you cannot make me.
