Tune Minecraft for stable FPS and clear fights: lower fancy graphics, set a sensible render distance, and optimize Java/Bedrock video options. Updated August 2026 checklist for PC and console.
Graphics: Fast. Smooth Lighting: Minimum or Off for max FPS. Clouds: Off. VSync: Off if your GPU can hold a stable frame rate. Entity Shadows: Off. Use fullscreen exclusive mode on Windows.
Start at render distance 8–12 chunks for PvP; raise only if FPS stays above your refresh rate. Simulation distance can sit slightly below render distance to reduce entity load.
Prefer Performance or Favor Performance profiles where available. Cap background downloads. On console, enable 120Hz output if your display supports it before raising fancy leaves and fancy clouds.
Allocate enough RAM in the launcher (6–8GB typical for modded; less for pure vanilla). Update GPU drivers. Close browsers and overlays before ranked or speedrun sessions.
Graphics Fast, clouds off, smooth lighting minimum, VSync off if FPS is stable, and render distance 8–12 for PvP.
8–12 chunks for competitive play; increase only while staying above your monitor refresh rate.
