Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking and 2.0 Pro Experimental rolling out to Gemini app

Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking and 2.0 Pro Experimental rolling out to Gemini app

Gemini [website] Flash Thinking Experimental is Google’s reasoning model that presents its thoughts. It was introduced in December and updated in January. Built on [website] Flash’s speed and performance, Gemini breaks down the prompt into steps that you can see.

On desktop, you’ll see: Show thinking, Identify the question’s scope, Recognize the different perspectives, Brainstorm key concepts and related questions, Structure the answer, Refine and Elaborate within each section, Consider adding nuance and caveats, Review and edit.

In the mobile app, it’s a simpler “Thoughts” section followed by the “Response.”.

The Gemini app displays this in real-time, with people able to see the streaming text (though it comes in faster than you can read). This lets you understand “why it responded in a certain way, what its assumptions were, and trace the model’s line of reasoning.” You can also tap the chevron to hide it. As a preview, it “lacks access to real-time info and some Gemini aspects.”.

[website] Flash Thinking Experimental will be available for free consumers, and we’re seeing it on several Android devices today.

Google also presented Gemini [website] Flash Thinking Experimental with apps for “reasoning across Google apps.” It “works best” with YouTube, Maps, and Search,” while some Gemini functions are not available. For comparison, the main model is “best for multi-step reasoning.”.

On mobile, some people are seeing “with apps” instead of [website] Flash Thinking Experimental.

Meanwhile, Gemini [website] Pro Experimental ([website] has “enhanced understanding and reasoning of world knowledge” than any of Google’s previous models. It’s mentioned to be ideal for complex and coding prompts.

Once rolled out, the Gemini app model picker will offer:

: For everyday tasks [website] Flash Thinking Experimental : Best for multi-step reasoning.

: Best for multi-step reasoning [website] Flash Thinking Experimental with apps : Reasoning across YouTube, Maps & Search.

: Reasoning across YouTube, Maps & Search [website] Pro Experimental : Best for complex tasks.

Google’s Pixel 9 Super Bowl 2025 ad is all about Gemini Live

At Super Bowl 2025, Google is airing a Pixel 9 and Gemini Live ad called “Dream Job.” This is in addition to another Google Workspace with Gemini ad campaign.

“Dream Job” is the national in-game ad that reveals a “father as he practices for an upcoming job interview with the help of Gemini Live on his Pixel.”.

The version Google shared on YouTube is just over 2 minutes long and tries to evoke the same emotion as 2009’s iconic “Parisian Love,” which is now 15 years old, by showing how the “father taps into the valuable lessons he’s learned as a parent, transforming his experiences into compelling answers and boosting his confidence.”.

It includes the new Gemini Live feature that lets you “Talk Live about PDF,” which launched in January on Pixel and the Galaxy S24/25. We see a Porcelain Pixel 9 Pro throughout, but nothing besides Gemini is showcased.

Save for using Gemini Live to talk about images, files, and YouTube video, the conversational assistant is available on all Android devices and as an iPhone app.

Meanwhile, Google’s social/digital spot is called “Party Blitz” about “how AI can help you navigate unexpected situations with a little more knowledge.” At one minute long, it’s the funnier Gemini Pixel 9 ad of the two and ties into the Super Bowl.

Google’s official Pixel 9 Pro Fold case is back in stock for the first time in months

Google’s official Pixel 9 Pro Fold case is back in stock for the first time in months

After months of waiting, Google’s official Pixel 9 Pro Fold case is back in stock at the Google Store.

The accessory situation for Pixel 9 Pro Fold has been bleak for a while. Just a few weeks after the device went on sale, the Google Store was devoid of most options, including the official case from Google directly. The official case went back in stock back in late November, but only with the black color available, and it was gone within a few days.

As of February 6, Google has now restocked all three color options for its official Pixel 9 Pro Fold case.

Obsidian, Porcelain, and Aloe case options are all now available for purchase and shipping quickly from the Google Store. We purchased one Aloe case this morning with an estimated delivery date in mid-February.

The official 9 Pro Fold case is available from the Google Store, and generally not available elsewhere. Verizon does often keep the black one in stock.

The appeal of Google’s official case is its price, which is below the average for name-brand case options for the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, and it’s slim fit. The case is comfortable to hold and fits the foldable well without any major compromises.

That’s not to say there aren’t excellent third-party options available. In December, we reviewed the Thinborne case for the 9 Pro Fold which is one of the only good options available with built-in magnets for MagSafe and Qi2 accessories.
