Nvidia Shield TV gets its first widely-available update in two years – what’s new

The first major and widely available Nvidia Shield TV enhancement released in over two years is now rolling out to individuals, and it brings a ton of bug fixes among other tweaks.
It’s been over five years now since the last Shield TV was released, but the hardware keeps on chugging along, and is still actively supported by Nvidia. The last widely-available enhancement was released in November 2022, and now, finally, another new enhancement is available.
Shield Experience [website] has started rolling out to all Shield TV devices this week. The modification was previously made available early through a hotfix program starting in October, as we reported.
The final release of this revision delivers a heaping helping of bug fixes to the Shield TV including problems with fast-forward and rewind in video playback, a problem where the remote wouldn’t respond for up to a minute after waking from sleep, an Apple Music problem during casting, and more.
Beyond bug fixes, Shield Experience [website] also brings a few new functions and capabilities to the Shield including an improved match Frame Rate feature in beta and the ability to clear an HDMI [website] flag during a factory reset. The biggest change is support for AURO-3D, which allows for “high-resolution immersive sound” over HDMI through a compatible decoder.
There is one hiccup, though. As was the case with a previous hotfix release, Shield Experience [website]’s final release may break Google Home integration on the Shield TV. Your Shield will be removed from the Google Home app following the enhancement, requiring you to add it back manually after the fact.
Shield Experience [website] is now rolling out to Shield TV devices and the full changelog follows:
New or Upgraded Apps AURO-3D This improvement unlocks full support for playback of high-resolution immersive sound in AURO-3D over HDMI. Connect your NVIDIA SHIELD TV Pro to an AURO-3D compatible decoder and enjoy the most natural 3D sound experience from streaming apps such as Artist Connection. Enhancements Added support for Match audio content resolution feature when using a USB DAC.

Sony cameras can now send photos to Lightroom and Google Drive

Sony has just revealed that, for select cameras, a new option will be available to send photos directly into Adobe Lightroom as well as Google Drive.
In the latest improvement to the Sony Creators’ app, the option for select cameras to transfer both images and videos to cloud providers has been added. This works with Adobe Lightroom and Google Drive for a quick and easy way to offload images or footage without connecting to a computer.
Automatic Cloud Transfer to Google Drive or Adobe Lightroom: In response to creator requests for a faster, more seamless workflow, this new feature allows customers to automatically transfer images and videos to external cloud storage providers, offering immediate accessibility for collaborative editing and organization across platforms.
However, Google Drive integration won’t work with all Sony cameras.
Compatible models include FX3, FX30, α1 II, α1, α9 III, α7R V, α7S III, α7 IV, α7CR, α7C II, α6700, ZV-E1, ZV-E10 II, ZV-1 II, ZV-1F, and ILX-LR1. Older cameras are still designed to pair with Sony’s previous Edge app, which does not (yet) support this feature.
The Sony Creators’ app is now available on the Play Store and App Store.
