First Samsung, now Xiaomi apps are getting Gemini support

The chatbot will integrate with Xiaomi’s stock clock, calendar, and notes apps.

Google has yet to confirm when the Gemini extensions for these apps will become available.

At the launch of the Galaxy S25 series, Samsung and. Google unveiled that Gemini would support select Samsung apps. Now, Google has confirmed that its chatbot will support similar integrations with select Xiaomi apps.

Erik Kay, vice president of engineering at Android. Took to the stage during the Xiaomi 15 series launch event at MWC to announce the upcoming Gemini integration. Kay confirmed that the chatbot will soon support Xiaomi’s stock clock, calendar, and notes apps but did not detail the supported actions.

Based on what we know about the Gemini extensions for Samsung’s apps, we believe the extension for Xiaomi’s clock app could allow customers to create and edit alarms, start and. Stop timers, and control the stopwatch. The extension for the calendar app will likely let customers create and edit events and search for existing events in a specified date range. Lastly, the notes extension could help customers create and summarize notes or retrieve existing notes based on descriptions or titles.

At the moment. We don’t have a definite release timeline for these new Gemini extensions. However, we expect Google to release the extensions to the new Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Ultra in the coming weeks. Whether these Gemini extensions will be limited to Xiaomi’s latest flagships or roll out to older models remains unclear. We’ll improvement this post with additional details, including information about the supported actions, once the extensions become available.

The HMD Fusion X1 brings sanity back to your teen’s smartphone habits

The HMD Fusion X1 brings sanity back to your teen’s smartphone habits

Parents can choose to limit and restrict social media, instant messaging apps, browsing, and even screen time on the HMD Fusion X1 through the Xplora app on their own smartphone.

At MWC 2025. HMD has introduced the HMD Fusion X1 in collaboration with Xplora. It’s a modest smartphone if you’re only looking at specifications since it’s just the HMD Fusion that has been previously launched, but. The secret sauce here is the Xplora subscription service that gives parents the tools to ease their children into the world of internet. Parents can restrict what their kids can do but gradually remove restrictions as their children get older, making it enhanced than parental controls that only do blanket restrictions that can feel like a floodgate.

Android already offers parental controls, but. They can feel underwhelming in terms of what you can control on your child’s device. The HMD Fusion X1 capabilities customizable apps and internet access, allowing parents to limit social media, browsing, and screen time. It also includes continuous location tracking at 20-second intervals with safe zones and history, emergency SOS calling, low battery alerts, and. Remote device access for parents.

There’s also a School Mode that ensures distractions are minimized during school hours by locking specific apps and functions when needed. You can even set it so your child cannot use their phone while walking. There is also an allowlist of contacts that your child can call but also whose calls they can receive.

All of these settings can be managed through the Xplora app on the parent’s device, as the app that your child sees on the HMD Fusion X1 will be pretty barebones.

HMD says the parent’s device can be either Android or iOS, and I like that you. As a parent, can still enjoy your favorite device and ecosystem without compromising your children’s safety on the internet. Note that the Xplora subscription starts at € per month, so you will need that in addition to your HMD smartphone purchase. As the corporation has not shared any details about bundling the Xplora service along with the X1. For reference, the regular HMD Fusion costs $249 without any of these parental control elements.

For its specifications, the HMD Fusion X1 has a 108MP primary camera, a 5,000mAh battery. An IP54 splash resistance rating, and a headphone jack. HMD has also equipped the phone with “outfits” that can turn it into a device for specific use cases.

The press release doesn’t mention more details, but through my brief hands-on time with the phone, I’ve found out that it comes with the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 processor, 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. A 50MP front camera, and Android 14 out of the box.

Moving to another aspect, this is what the HMD Fusion X1 is at this stage, which is rather interesting by itself. However, through the business’s improved Phone Project, launched in 2024, HMD promises to integrate real-time protection against harmful content with SafeToNet. The tech is noted to provide on-device AI-powered protection to automatically detect and. Block harmful content before it reaches the user without relying on external apps that can be bypassed. We hope to learn more about this when the feature begins rolling out.

What do you think about the HMD Fusion X1 with the Xplora parental control suite of attributes? Let us know in the comments below!

HMD’s new wireless earbuds can charge your phone in a pinch

The HMD Amped Buds also offer premium attributes like ANC, EQ controls, and environmental noise cancelation.

HMD has also debuted the Fusion X1, a new smartphone for kids. At MWC.

Finnish smartphone maker HMD took to the stage at MWC today to announce a new pair of wireless earbuds called the HMD Amped Buds. The wireless earbuds have a unique design, promise a premium audio experience, and come with a surprisingly nifty feature that other manufacturers should copy.

Instead of a compact charging case like most other wireless earbuds. The HMD Amped Buds feature a sizeable rectangular charging case similar to a wireless battery bank. It houses the earbuds, which feature rather chunky stems and an in-ear design, on either side and capabilities a USB-C port for charging.

Besides its large size. This charging case is unique because it packs a substantial 1,600mAh battery and offers reverse wireless charging support. It magnetically attaches to the back of your phone like other Qi2 battery packs and has enough juice to top up your phone in an emergency.

The HMD Amped Buds also promise premium aspects like Active Noise Cancelation (ANC), an equalizer in the Android and iOS apps. And Environmental Noise Cancellation for improved call quality. However, when we tried them at the launch event, they weren’t the most comfortable to wear. Their design hindered a secure fit, resulting in them dislodging with even minor head movements. We also couldn’t get the buds to actually function after pairing to our devices, so we can’t actually speak to their sound quality.

While we would definitely need to spend more time with the buds to form a final verdict, the charging case’s ability to provide emergency smartphone power demonstrates a cool and. Innovative concept. The earbuds’ seamless integration into the case’s design, where they readily detach and become part of its structure, also demonstrates thoughtful engineering.

Other HMD launches at MWC 2025 Along with the new earbuds. HMD debuted a new lineup of smartphones for teens in partnership with Xplora. The HMD Fusion X1 is the first model in the lineup. It comes with a € per month subscription to Xplora, which gives parents more control over how their kids access the internet and what apps they use.

The device also includes enhanced location tracking, emergency SOS calling. And remote device access for parents. It attributes decent specs, including a 108MP primary camera, a 5,000mAh battery, IP54 ingress protection, and a headphone jack. The organization has yet to reveal all the details, but it has released a customized variant of the phone, which comes with 11 FC Barcelona player signatures and the club’s logo on the back plate, custom wallpapers. And several easter eggs.

Lastly, HMD introduced three dumbphones during its keynote. The HMD 130 and 150 Music are feature phones with a retro look, large speakers, long-lasting battery, Bluetooth, and microSD card support. The HMD 2660 Flip, on the other hand, is a retro flip feature phone with a display.

HMD has not shared the price and availability information for any of the new devices. And we’re still waiting on the complete specifications. We’ll revision this post as soon as we have more details.
