Gboard’s already excellent voice typing experience is about to get even better (APK teardown) - Related to already, 9a!, thanks, experience, app
Exclusive: These are the official cases for the Google Pixel 9a!

The design appears to be very similar to the cases for the rest of the Pixel 9 series, only without a raised edge around the camera.
The case will be available in four colorways, matching the phone.
The Google Pixel 9a will allegedly launch in a little over a month, and unsurprisingly, almost everything about it has already been leaked. From the official wallpapers to full specs sheets, there is little we don’t already know. Today, thanks to a source inside Google, Android Authority is able to fill one of the few remaining holes by revealing the official case designs.

The leaked case design isn’t really anything surprising — it’s simply the same generally liked Pixel 9 design, except without the raised edge around the camera, as the Pixel 9a does away with the protruding camera bar. The case has soft silicone on the outside and microfiber lining on the inside. There’s also a “Pixel” branding inside and Google’s “G” logo on the outside.
It will likely come in at least four colors, matching the phone variants, although the marketing names are not final: Peony — Pink.

The Pixel 9a is rumored to launch in March, with preorders starting on March 19. More information on these cases is not yet known. We’ll keep you updated as we learn more through leaks.

Research Made Easy, Thanks to Gemini’s New Android App

Google introduced Deep Research for Gemini late last year, allowing clients to conduct in-depth research in just a few minutes. Initially, this feature was only available on the web, but now, there’s good news for those who want to use it on mobile.
, Deep Research is now rolling out widely in the Gemini app for Android. However, the rollout appears to be gradual, as only a few consumers, including one from Android Authority, have reported seeing the feature on their phones.
Deep Research is an advanced AI-powered tool designed to analyze information, generate detailed reports, and provide source citations. It is only available to Gemini Advanced clients. The mobile version works just like the web-based version, making it easy to conduct research on the go.
Select the “[website] Pro with Deep Research” option from the drop-down menu in Gemini.
Enter a query to start the research process.
Review and edit the generated outline before proceeding.
Tap “Start research”, allowing Google to scan the web and generate a structured investigation.
Each analysis includes organized sections and lists of findings for verification.
Google states that reports take around 5 to 10 minutes to complete, but more complex topics could take longer. people don’t need to stay in the chat while it’s running. Instead, Gemini will send a notification when the research is ready.
Android Authority’s Mitja Rutnik tested the feature and had “mixed feelings” about it. He noted that it worked well for broad and general topics like AI chatbots and interior design. However, he found it useless for real-time data analysis, such as generating stock market reports for a specific day.
Google isn’t alone in offering AI-powered research tools. OpenAI lately launched its own Deep Research feature, powered by the o3 model. Unlike Google’s tool, OpenAI promises more detailed reports in 30 minutes.
As these AI-powered tools evolve, they could redefine how clients conduct online research.

Gboard’s already excellent voice typing experience is about to get even better (APK teardown)

We’ve spotted a new selection of “Rewrite” voice commands to help you change the tone, rephrase, elaborate, condense, and emojify your texts.
Google is working on an improved Assistant Voice Typing experience for Gboard, which could soon allow people to rewrite texts using voice commands.

An APK teardown helps predict aspects that may arrive on a service in the future based on work-in-progress code. However, it is possible that such predicted aspects may not make it to a public release.
Gboard offers a powerful speech-to-text feature called Assistant Voice Typing. This feature lets you use Google Assistant to type texts, delete words, clear drafts, undo changes, add emojis, and send texts using only your voice. On Pixel 8 series and newer devices, the feature can also proofread texts and correct mistakes with a “Fix it” voice command. Google is now working on an improved version of the feature that will also be able to help you rewrite texts.
We’ve spotted evidence of this in-development change in the latest Gboard beta for Android (version [website] As you can see in the attached screenshots, it adds support for a new selection of voice commands to help you rewrite your texts. It includes six commands that can rephrase the text, make it sound more professional or friendly, elaborate or condense it, or make it more fun by replacing some words with relevant emoji.
These “Rewrite” voice commands are not functional in the current beta release and will likely roll out with a future Gboard modification. We suspect Google might release this improved Assistant Voice Typing experience with the March Pixel Drop. We’ll keep an eye on future developments and modification this post as soon as we have more details.
