As a result, not only will the notification alert you that you've moved into an area in a different time zone, but you'll also be told what the name of the new time zone is. Are you now in the Eastern Time Zone or did you stay in the Central Time Zone? This feature will let you know.
Knowing that your phone is displaying the time belonging to a different time zone, and knowing exactly what that new time zone is can help consumers keep appointments with others. I'm not sure that most of us change the time zone that we are physically in often enough to make this a must-have feature. On the other hand, all it takes is one crucial business meeting you missed because you forgot that the time zone changed to understand how crucial and useful this feature can be.
Will we see this new time zone change notification tool show up in Android 16? The stable version of the next Android build is expected to be released during the second quarter which means that it won't be too long before we know whether Google plans on including this with Android 16 or if this feature isn't expected to be ready until Android 17 is pushed out in 2026.

A leaked memo from Meta’s top brass hints at that the organization is using 2025 to determine whether the metaverse was a “legendary misadventure” and will be pushing forward with lots of new AI hardware.

Specifically, the organization’s head of reality labs, Andrew Bosworth, points to that the organization needs to get Horizon Worlds to break out on mobile for the organization’s “long-term plans to have a chance,” .
In the same memo, Bosworth mentioned that Meta is working on half a dozen new AI-powered wearables but didn’t mention much else. That expressed, after selling over a million Meta Ray-Bans in 2024, it seems like smart glasses are the organization’s best bet at a successful hardware play.
Rumours have been circulating that the organization is developing a sportier version of its AI glasses with Oakley and a newer model with a small heads-up display to show notifications and image previews, but it’s still unclear which of these are nearing release. I’d expect the new styles of the existing tech, but Bosworth’s memo mentions driving retention with mixed reality, which could suggest something with a screen.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg told investors at the end of January that 2025 could be a defining year for smart glasses. His theory is that many tech products have their breakout year in the third generation, so he’s hoping the same will happen for smart glasses. He also needs it to happen. The firm has been funnelling money into its mixed-reality division for years, with losses of around $60 billion USD since 2020.
