Nvidia GPUs are melting power connectors again, but this time it’s the RTX 5090

Just like the 4090 release, Nvidia is having issues with its top-end RTX 5090 GPU melting its power connection points. So far, it’s unclear if this is a widespread issue or just a few customers who didn’t fully seat their connectors.
Two people have reported the issue so far, and it looks identical to the RTX 4090 issue from late 2022. The first user’s power cable is burnt at both ends, and it should be noted that the cable is custom. That stated, the other user has the same problem and is using the default cable that comes in the box with his power supply. Both people claim to have their cables fully seated, but the last time this happened, Nvidia claimed it was due to people not fully seating their cables.
The RTX 5090 uses the same 12VHPWR connector that debuted on the RTX 40 series in 2022. While improvements have been made to make the connectors safer since the issues surrounding the 4090 launch, it seems like they haven’t been enough.
Notably, neither Intel nor AMD use this new connector for their GPUs, and both Corsair and MSI have added colour to their connectors to make it visually apparent when they’re fully plugged in. The organization that manages the PCI standard also revamped the connector with more reliable connection points after the 4090 launch, but perhaps other issues remain.

OnePlus leaked 2025 smartphone roadmap has a few big surprises

The leaked roadmap doesn't include details about any OnePlus mid-range phone Screenshot by PhoneArena ( via Weibo.
April is usually a “dead” month when it comes to new flagship releases, so that might work out quite well for OnePlus. The Chinese firm hasn’t released a T-series model since OnePlus 10T, so it’s a bit of a surprise to see OnePlus returning to its previous launch calendar.
That presented, we have several more OnePlus flagships coming in 2025 after the OnePlus 13T presumably releases in April, namely the OnePlus Ace 5s and Ace 5v.
Both are quoted as featuring “large flat displays,” which seems to be a common trait for most of the flagships OnePlus plans to launch this year. The Ace 5s and Ace 5v will be officially introduced in China sometime in May.
The next big launch from OnePlus is expected to happen later this fall. Now, the name of the phone is a bit of an issue for a big Chinese organization like OnePlus. Normally, the handset maker should launch the OnePlus 14 in October, but since the Chinese word for “four” sounds very similar to the word “death,” domestic companies avoid having this number in the name of their products. Because of the so-called tetraphobia, OnePlus will instead launch the OnePlus 15 in October, skipping the OnePlus 14 altogether. However, the Nord 4 exists just to point out that OnePlus doesn’t really care about superstitions, so we might just have a OnePlus 14 after all. In any case, just like the Ace 5s and Ace 5v, this one is supposed to feature a “large flat display” also.
The last two OnePlus flagships mentioned in the leaked roadmap are the OnePlus Ace 6 and OnePlus Ace 6 Pro, which should be released in November. Slightly different versions of these flagships are expected to be launched globally in early 2026.
OnePlus plans to greatly change the design of its flagships.
, OnePlus plans to “greatly” change the design of its phones a little bit this year, a bold yet necessary move in order to remain competitive in the flagship tier. It's also crucial to mention that the names mentioned in the roadmap are "placehoders," so they might be changed by OnePlus.
These few tidbits about OnePlus’ 2025 smartphone launch roadmap paint an exciting picture, especially for fans of the brand. To make it even more thrilling for tech-savvies, we haven’t even got any details about OnePlus’ mid-range lineup.

Although we haven’t had a Nord series phone since August 2024, OnePlus Nord 5 might be just around the corner. The latest rumor about OnePlus’ next mid-range phone points to it will be equipped with a MediaTek 9350 chipset and a very large 7,000 mAh battery. The next Nord series phone is expected to be introduced in April, but take this with a grain of salt.
Typically, OnePlus Nord phones released in the United States aren’t on par with their global siblings, so even if the Nord 5 seems very decent on paper, US clients might get a downgraded version. The stunning OnePlus Watch 3 promises to offer 'unstoppable' battery life starting February 18

Perhaps the most notable thing unveiled today is that the corporation's next big Apple Watch alternative will be launched in the US, Canada, and "European markets" on February 18. That's next week, mind you, which is probably a little sooner than many of you might have expected, although it's also more than a month on the heels of the OnePlus 13 and 13R's US release. A battery life champion you can already get at a nice discount.
Even enhanced, entering this promotional campaign will see one lucky contestant receive a free OnePlus Pad 2 and two other winners enter into possession of complimentary OnePlus Buds Pro 3.
Circling back to the OnePlus Watch 3, it's crucial to point out that its list price is not official at this time, so we don't know how much you'll need to spend either with or without that special $30 coupon code. Last year's OnePlus Watch 2 was originally made available at $[website] (which you can currently mark down to $[website] sans jumping through any hoops), but there's definitely a chance the new generation will be a bit costlier.
That's primarily due to a significant upgrade in what was already the Watch 2's strongest department. Yes, last year's mind-blowing 100-hour battery life promise is set to... blow your mind even harder, jumping to no less than five days, or 120 hours.
Like its predecessor, the OnePlus Watch 3 aims to achieve that competition-crushing number by combining Wear OS with a more frugal proprietary operating system for those situations when you might not need to access the device's most sophisticated attributes.
On top of that, the new smartwatch will use two chips as well, leveraging the Snapdragon W5 for "performance" use cases and a new BES2800 MCU for energy-efficient tasks. Perhaps most importantly, the OnePlus Watch 3 will also increase the Watch 2's actual battery size from 500 to 631mAh.
More functionality, more durability, still a lot of unanswered questions.
Depicted in "Emerald" and "Obsidian" colorways, the undeniably gorgeous OnePlus Watch 3 certainly looks similar to the "Radiant" and "Black" OnePlus Watch 2 at first glance. But that large crown at the side promises to, well, actually do something this time around, allowing for more intuitive UI navigation and thus adding a much-needed touch of extra functionality to an already solid value package.
The rotating crown sits on a titanium alloy bezel with a "robust PVD" coating, which obviously aims to improve both the durability and elegance of the all-steel OnePlus Watch 2 by pairing with a familiar stainless steel case.
The actual case size and the screen size are only two of the question marks still hovering over the OnePlus Watch 3 (at least officially), and we also don't yet know if the health monitoring tool set will be improved or expanded in any significant way.
, OnePlus is vowing to enhance the accuracy of its sleep tracking technology, but beyond that, I guess we'll just have to wait until February 18 for all of our questions to receive answers.
The highly anticipated, long-rumored , and at one point reportedly delayed OnePlus Watch 3 has just gone official in the most OnePlus fashion possible, with a product webpage revealing its design in full and a press release detailing a few key aspects while leaving out a number of other crucial characteristics and specifications.
