Error 30005 is an EAC file access error. Fortnite's Easy Anti-Cheat tried to create or read a file and received an Access Denied response from Windows. This is almost always caused by antivirus software or insufficient permissions.
What does Fortnite Error 30005 mean?
Win32 error code 5 is Access Denied — a Windows file system permission error. EAC needs to create certain log and data files during startup. When antivirus software locks these files, or when EAC lacks write permissions to its directory, error 30005 appears.
Antivirus locking EAC files
Windows Defender and third-party AV products scan files as they are created. Sometimes they hold a file open (quarantine or scan lock) just long enough to cause the EAC permission error. Adding EAC and Fortnite to AV exclusions resolves this in most cases.
Running as administrator
If the Epic Launcher was not launched as administrator, it may not have sufficient permissions to write to protected directories. Right-clicking the launcher and selecting Run as Administrator is a quick diagnostic step.
