Could next week’s big US Mobile mystery news be support for more than one network at once?

While the teaser hints at something related to Dark Star (AT&T), past comments from the CEO and US Mobile representatives suggest that the highly anticipated multi-network feature may also be part of the announcement.

If true, this feature would enable customers to seamlessly combine multiple networks, including Dark Star, improving coverage and reliability.

US Mobile is teasing a major change coming to its service on February 11. The initial teaser video doesn’t reveal much, other than that the news is somehow connected to its Dark Star (AT&T) network. However, after some digging — and based on hints from the CEO himself in a US Mobile subreddit — it sounds very certain this news at least partially involves the company’s anticipated multi-network feature. Beyond that, a few other changes to Dark Star also seem likely.

US Mobile’s CEO Ahmed Khattak posted a link to the teaser in the US Mobile subreddit yesterday. While he didn’t officially say much, he did provide additional details in responses to community questions. First, he clarified that the announcement is not related to the Warp Roaming upgrade — an obvious conclusion to be fair, given that the teaser specifically mentions Dark Star.

That mentioned, the CEO did provide a welcome modification on Warp Roaming, stating that it will go live next week. The feature will include a 10GB allotment for the Premium plan and roaming in Puerto Rico, Mexico, Canada, the UK, France, Spain, Italy, Germany, India, Japan, Thailand, and Israel, with another 15 countries coming shortly thereafter.

Even more intriguing, when someone asked about the multi-network feature and if it’s connected, the CEO confirmed that it would be part of the upcoming news. He also indicated that this would not be another beta — it would be a general release. Granted these aren’t official comments, but it’s pretty clear that something big is happening here.

Would you consider US Mobile if it let you use Verizon, ATT, and T-Mobile all at once? 581 votes Yes, absolutely! 73 % Possibly, if the pricing is right. 23 % No, I'm not a fan of US Mobile 2 % No, I'd rather stick with one of the big carriers or another option 2 %.

For those unfamiliar, the multi-network feature was previously available as a limited beta, allowing people to add more than one network to a single plan for an additional $8 fee. This differs from US Mobile’s existing transfer option, which requires people to wait for a network switch and pay a fee each time. The new feature would enable seamless switching between multiple networks on the same phone.

If you need more evidence that US Mobile is preparing to announce expanded multi-network capabilities, we looked back at older community posts. In a seven-month-old thread, a US Mobile staff member confirmed that the beta was still active and that general release would happen once Dark Star was fully operational.

Putting all of this together with US Mobile’s recent teaser, it seems highly likely that the multi-network feature is gearing up for a wider rollout — alongside additional changes to Dark Star as it reaches full readiness. These could include even higher priority levels than US Mobile currently offers on Dark Star, improved roaming, or possibly other enhancements.

As for the multi-network feature itself, details on pricing or changes from the beta remain unclear. However, it sounds like we won’t have to wait much longer to find out.

Deal: Apple iPad 10th Generation drops back to just $279

Despite the fact that we are Android fans around here, we know many of our readers love iPads. Many of you take advantage of iPad deals, so we’re back with a great offer on Apple’s popular budget tablet. The Apple iPad 10th generation is just $279 today, saving you $70 on a tablet that is already considered affordable. Get the Apple iPad 10th Generation for only $279.

This offer is available from Amazon, but you can get the same deal from Best Buy. Take your pick! Furthermore, the discount applies to all color versions available: Blue, Pink, Silver, or Yellow.

Apple iPad 10th Gen (64GB, Wi-Fi) Apple iPad 10th Gen (64GB, Wi-Fi) The new iPad for 2022 is a huge shift for the line. The newest iPad abandons the old design and also abandons the Lightning port. It gets numerous internal upgrades and even some fun colors. See price at Amazon Save $[website].

All things considered, we still think the Apple iPad 10th Generation is your best option in terms of value per dollar. It’s Apple’s most affordable tablet, but you wouldn’t think it is a budget option day-to-day. At $279, it really stretches your dollar. It’s also a current-generation device, so you’re not really getting an outdated product.

You’ll be happy with the aesthetics, which meets Apple’s current design language, featuring a squared-off look and small bezels. The metal back looks and feels great, especially if you pick one of the funner colors.

Looks aside, the tablet is also quite capable, especially for a device in this price range. It’s powered by an Apple A14 Bionic chip and 4GB of RAM. While this may not seem like much, Apple’s optimizations make this tablet fly through any app or game. I personally use this model daily, and have yet to encounter any hiccups. I even use Lightroom to edit RAW photos, and it often does advanced than much more expensive laptops.

If you are going to use this iPad for media consumption, the [website] screen is actually really enjoyable. It has a very sharp 2,360 x 1,640 resolution, which is outstanding. Other tablets and laptops of this size usually max out at a QHD 1,440p resolution, and that’s for the higher-end ones.

Creatives will also like the fact that you can use an Apple Pencil with the Apple iPad 10th Generation. It supports the Apple Pencil First Generation and the Apple Pencil USB-C.

I honestly can’t think of any tablet this good at under $300. These deals come and go, so take advantage of the offer while you can. It might very well be gone tomorrow! That mentioned, if you want other options, here’s our list of the best Android tablets.

Google Photos wants you to know exactly what its video presets do (APK teardown)

These presets are all labeled by name and assigned icons.

Photos is working on replacing those icons with sort, illustrative video clips.

Google Photos is much more than just a convenient gallery, and the app hooks customers up with a whole suite of basic editing tools. While the bulk of those are for working with still images, like the flip tool we just saw the app pick up, there’s also a growing selection of video editing tools. Google just introduced a handful of new ones last fall, and now we’re uncovering one way that Photos could be trying to make those options a little more accessible.

Discover Authority Insights for more , app teardowns, leaks, and in-depth tech coverage you won't find anywhere else. An APK teardown helps predict elements that may arrive on a service in the future based on work-in-progress code. However, it is possible that such predicted elements may not make it to a public release.

As part of that wave of Photos video-editing updates, Google gave the app a collection of AI-powered editing presets, letting customers easily implement effects like a slow-mo shot, or the camera zooming in on the action.

Those were all presented cleanly enough, each labeled and assigned an icon, but what if you’re not much of a videographer? Maybe you’ve heard the term and could even make a few inferences, but is it going to be immediately clear to everyone what something like a “tracking shot” is?

Google may be about to remove any ambiguity here, at least based on the work we can see in version [website] of Google Photos. While this isn’t yet live in the app’s public release, we were able to activate a new interface for these editing presets that replaces the still icons with short video examples of the effects themselves.

Now that tracking shot is clearly illustrated as the camera pans to keep its subject centered. Admittedly, this all might be a little overkill — it’s a little busy-looking, and once you play with these tools for even just a few minutes, you should be able to remember what each of them offer. But for those of us who need the occasional refresher, perhaps this could be just what the doctor ordered.
