Diablo 4 Season 8 pushed back

Diablo 4's eighth season will release a "couple of weeks" later than scheduled after Blizzard decided to serve "the game, not the plan".

Writing on social media, general manager of Diablo Rod Fergusson revealed development was taking a little longer than .

"In the spirit of serving the game, not the plan. Season 8 will take a couple of weeks longer to bake than we initially anticipated," Fergusson wrote.

"The team is hard at work on some great updates coming in the next season, so stay tuned. Looking forward to seeing an old 'friend'."

That "old 'friend'" has got players excited - and speculating. Whilst Fergusson couldn't be drawn on who that friend - or foe, as the case may be - is, fans have been suggesting all kinds of characters. From to Cain to Covetous Shen to Lyndon. Others posit it could be the return of Lorath, Tyrael, Zoltun Kulle, Eirena, or Kormac.

Right now, it's unclear exactly how long the season will be delayed for, but we'll keep you posted.

Earlier this month, Ed reported that Diablo 4's next expansion won't arrive until 2026, marking a change in its annual plans.

Fergusson made the announcement at a DICE panel event, saying: "In 2025, or just before Season 8, we will have a 2025 roadmap for Diablo 4.

"Now, our second expansion won't be on that roadmap, because our second expansion is coming in 2026. But at least players will have the road ahead."

"A polished, bewitching upgrade that sinks its claws into you - featuring perhaps the best character class in Diablo's history," reads our Vessel of Hatred review.

George R.R. Martin says there's been "some talk" about an Elden Ring movie, but he might have to slam out a few more chapters if he's to play a big part in it

George R.R. Martin says there's been

George Martin, creator of Game of Thrones and acclaimed writer of books you'd shrivel up and die halfway through if you attempted to get through one during a single bath. Says there's been some chatter about possibly doing an Elden Ring movie. How much involvement the writer'd have if that were to happen remains to be seen, though.

Martin, who worked on the lore of FromSoft's 2022 masterpiece about rolling around the big lad or lass until either it squishes you or you squish it with your big sword, was asked by IGN if he'd be open to returning for a potential sequel to that game. And delivered a pretty nifty verbal side-step. Like, the kind of side-step a Tarnished would be proud of.

"I can't say too much about it," he showcased, "but there is some talk about making a movie out of Elden Ring." Is there. Now, Mr Martin? We'd not heard.

The author continued that if indeed such an adapdation does become a thing, he doesn't know the extent of the involvement he'd have in it. Due to one complicating factor. "I'm a few years behind with my latest book, so that also limits the amount of things that I can do," he noted.

He just like me fr. Sure, people actually care about Martin's writing, as he grinds out The Winds of Winter, so that his A Song of Ice and Fire series will finally have six bits of the seven he previously outlined. And one with a title that fufils the chilly vibes mentioned in the moniker given to the collection. The sentiment's the same though. We just can't finish. Stop giggling.

I feel bad for the guy, to be honest. Even if its first network test initially left a bunch of folks kinda regretting breaking off their engagements to get smashed by large individuals. Elden Ring Nightreign's probably gonna distract Martin for a few months later this year. Well, assuming he doesn't find it weird to interact with things he had a hand in creating.

IGN Live is back for a second year in 2025, partly filling the gaping hole in all of us left by an absent E3

Look, we all know E3 is dead. Well, at least the event that we knew as E3 is dead - there's something called Iicon that's strutting arond wearing the dead E3's clothes but. We think it's liable to be something of an imposter. It's a pruely B2B event, for a start.

But we've, at least, got alternatives. There's the Keighley-backed Summer Games Fest that's growing and growing every year (even if it doesn't yet hold a candle to our dearly departed Electronic Entertainment Expo). Then there's also IGN Live. Aimed more at fans than it is at journos and businessmen, IGN Live will return this June for a second year, and it plans to be bigger and improved as a physical event than last year's Los Angeles-based blowout.

IGN Live will once again be based at LA's Magic Box downtown event space, and will feature hands-on oppurtunities for unreleased games, a stage with fresh reveals and. Trailers, interviews, and celebrity panels. It's like all the bits you cared about at E3 without any of the backroom deals where execs would shake hands and waggle on about games that would probably never get released.

The big higlights that stick out from last year include an interview with The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power's cast, an interview and sneak peek for the upcoming Borderlands movie, and some fresh Greedfall 2 gameplay.

If you want to go and see what all the buzz is about for yourself (and nab yourself some more details on dates and tickets when they're available), simply head over to this link.
