You can mount monsters by performing aerial attacks. First, make sure that you have a melee weapon equipped. Then, be ready to do either of these two maneuvers:
Jump off ledges while a creature is below you.
Jump off your Seikret mount while a target is at a lower height/lower stance.
while a target is at a lower height/lower stance. Use your Slinger to grapple onto floating contraptions, vines, or insects, then drop down a creature that's below you.
Then, while in mid-air, press the main attack Triangle on PlayStation 5. Y on Xbox Series X/S, or the left mouse button. If all goes well, your character should be able to cling onto a target's back, which leads to a minigame of sorts.
Get ready to hop and wallop a giant beast on the head.
What to do once you're on top of a monster?
Assuming you're able to mount a monster in Monster Hunter Wilds. Don't celebrate prematurely. First, take note of the control prompts and information on your screen:
The upper-left corner of the screen presents your stamina meter. It will gradually drain while you're riding the creature.
Monsters will attempt to buck and toss you away. If this occurs, press and hold the brace button to minimize stamina depletion.
You can press the attack buttons to strike a monster's body parts. Once you've opened a wound, press the corresponding R1, RB, or Left Shift, depending on your control scheme. This lets you perform a Focus Strike that causes tremendous damage.

Thank you, Monster Hunter Wilds, for understanding that not everyone playing on PC is sitting at a desk

One of the very early screens you see in Monster Hunter Wilds when you load it up for the first time on PC is one that’ll save many of us a lot of digging through menus. Modern games have gotten really good at frontloading their accessibility options on first launch, and some even bundle together the most common under clear labels.
Capcom’s latest is surprisingly up-to-date in that regard, but. It also offers a simple, yet often missed group of options for players on PC.
The screen I am talking about comes up pretty much as soon as Monster Hunter Wilds is done precompiling shaders on PC. The game asks whether you’re playing at your desk, or on your TV in the living room.
Like many of today’s games. You’re given two groups of options. The Desk option keeps the default HUD, menu text and subtitle text sizes. The Living Room group, however, pushes all those to Large. You can still adjust each setting individually later, but to see this right as you’re about to start playing is really worth highlighting, especially as it’s something many PC players struggle with.
The PC platform is versatile, and. As someone who plays most controller games on my TV, I was ecstatic to see that option. There’s even a preview window to the right of the screen that demonstrates the effect of each grouping.
Monster Hunter Wilds also comes with a suite of other, more granular accessibility options, such as a toggle to help players with arachnophobia, various colourblind settings, and even some ways to customise menu and item bar behaviour.
This is all great to see from Capcom, especially as the publisher’s games continue to expand their appeal into the mainstream.

Monster Hunter Wilds is here at last, and has brought with it a bunch of technical problems for day-one hunters

Monster Hunter Wilds is here, and is absolutely taking over Steam right now, quickly passing a million concurrent players on PC. But, the launch hasn't gone entirely smoothly for all.
The most common problem appears to be issues when first booting the game, with an error message popping up stating "Sorry. Something went wrong" and prompting players to visit a technical support link. Thankfully, restarting Steam appears to be fixing this issue for the vast majority of players, so if this is impacting you. Give that a try!
Others are having issues that are more substantial. The game, which is quite beefy, is pushing PC hardware for many players to its limits. In addition, those with set-ups above the mimimum requirement are noting performance issues. It's worth noting that I, with a pretty decent PC, have been experiencing screen tearing on various occasions, so it's not some phantom issue.
It's worth noting that Capcom has made a statement on technical issues on social media. Which you can see below!
Hunters! If you're experiencing any initial issues with Monster Hunter Wilds on Steam, please try updating your graphics driver, turning off compatibility mode, and then readjust your settings.
Thank you all for your patience and. Support!
Moving to another aspect, then of course there's the model quality for those with weaker PCs, something that has been discussed extensively since the beta. Some clients, such as Impressive-Cry-3448 on the Monster Hunter Reddit, have taken to the internet with a sweep of new hilarious screenshots showing low-poly models. These are funny to look at, but it's worth noting that for some. This is what the game is gonna look like for the foreseeable future. Pour one out for them.
If you can get past all these problems. MonHun seems to be going down well with a hundreds of thousands of hunters out there. So, if you've got a juicy PC you should be set for a good time. Just, spare a thought for those left behind, staring out low-poly stuff and frying their CPUs.
