Nintendo removing game from Switch Online catalogue in Japan

Nintendo Switch Online's retro game collection is losing its first game - in Japan at least.
Today, Nintendo unveiled via a post on social media that 1991 SNES football game Super Soccer will be pulled from the Japanese Nintendo Switch Online catalogue in a month's time. On 28th March. No reason was given for the removal.
For now, Nintendo is yet to say whether Super Soccer will also similarly disappear from other versions of the Nintendo Switch Online catalogue elsewhere in the world. Eurogamer has contacted Nintendo for comment.
Is Super Soccer being removed due to a rights issue - as is so often the case with other digital subscription services elsewhere? Will this become more common, as the Nintendo Switch Online catalogue ages? Is this anything to do with Switch 2?
Whatever the reason, it's frustrating to see, yet again. Another digital games library meant to preserve access to older games being subject to removals such as this. (It was also not an issue on previous Nintendo consoles, where retro games were sold rather than placed behind a subscription.).
Earlier this month. Nintendo added its first Game Boy Advance title to its subscription service for more than four months. Wario Land 4 arrived on Valentine's Day, and makes up one of the dozens of games available in the full Nintendo Switch Online catalogue.

PS5 Fans Are Desperate for a Physical Version of Xbox Game Forza Horizon 5

Xbox has abandoned physical media faster than Sony, with many of its major titles shipping on borderline blank discs – assuming they get a retail release at all!
But while most software on PS5 is purchased digitally. There’s still a big market for physical releases. Practically all of Sony’s games release on Blu-ray, and consumers still show up in sizeable numbers to buy boxed games on the platform.
Many were hoping that Microsoft might start making physical versions of its games for PS5. Then. But if Forza Horizon 5 is any indication, that won’t be the case.
The open world racer’s official account was inundated with requests from eager fans asking for a retail version in the aftermath of its release date announcement this week. It simply responded in various permutations: “There are currently no plans for a physical version.”.
Nothing planned for a physical disc release — Forza Horizon (@ForzaHorizon) February 27. 2025.
“Please reconsider,” one fan urged. Another added: “We need [a physical version]. We at PlayStation […] actually spend on this platform.”.

Poll: Are You Playing Monster Hunter Wilds?

Say goodbye to your free time over the next few weeks, because there's a new Monster Hunter in town. Capcom's oversized weapon simulator is back with Monster Hunter Wilds, and we want to know if you're jumping in.
Monster Hunter World was obviously an unprecedented hit for the enterprise. Having been crowned Capcom's best selling title of all time. We'll have to wait and see whether Wilds can match its predecessor's commercial success, but right now at least, the review scores are sky high.
"Few games can match the satisfaction of Monster Hunter — and Monster Hunter Wilds might just be the most satisfying instalment yet," is what we wrote in our Monster Hunter Wilds PS5 review.
"Wilds is an outstanding action RPG at its core, and a worthy successor to the almighty World," we concluded, awarding the game a thoroughly impressive 9/10.
We'll also take this opportunity to shill our Monster Hunter Wilds guide, which includes info on all monsters and how to beat them. Alongside a full breakdown of all armor sets and skills.
